How should I store my strings?
Strings have the same feel-good factor as the majority of people. This means that they are best at 40 to 60 % relative humidity and 20-25°C (68-77°F). Strings can be kept in original Thomastik-Infeld packaging for years without any loss of quality. If a silver string becomes dark, this has no effect on sound, response or handling – it is simply an optical change. The dark surface should not be cleaned with chemical or coarse mechanical means (steel wool), as this will damage the string. As you play, the dark surface will become lighter again on its own.
